February 2012 HMRC RTI Update - 1 month to go

Published on Wednesday, February 29, 2012

In a month’s time the pilot programme kicks off with a handful of organisations, followed by a few hundred more in May.

Based on the success of this we'll then see thousands go live toward the latter part of this year. Within the next 12 months, RTI submissions will have rolled out to hundreds of thousands of organisations countrywide.  By next October RTI submissions will be mandated and the strategic choice of RTI data submission via the Bacs channel will be in place by 2015.

Where are we now?

From a Bacs payments perspective, our latest payments software is RTI-ready and able to submit RTI data alongside Bacs payment data.  From a payroll provider perspective, their software should now be able to cater for the inclusion of the hash tag. The pilot adopters will have cleansed their data and upgraded their payroll software accordingly and should be ready to test.

What's next?

For the remainder of organisations out there, the message remains the same… NOW is the time to ensure your data quality is up to scratch, that starter and leaver data is correct and that you've liaised with your payroll and payments provider to ensure they can accommodate the submission.

If you're not yet up to speed with Real Time Information and how this will impact you, we recently spotted an informative document that may be of assistance: Real Time Information Supplement by the Purely Payroll publication.  This provides an overview of what employers need to know and what the law requires.

If you're not sure what you need to do next or if you're not getting the answers you need from your existing Bacs provider, then please feel free to chat to Albany Software and we'll be happy to assist you.
