What is AUDDIS?

AUDDIS stands for Automated Direct Debit Instruction Service. The system enables organisations to send new Direct Debit Instructions (DDIs) to their customers’ banks electronically, rather than by sending a paper mandate.

By using the AUDDIS system, an organisation is able to send a DDI to the paying bank via the Bacs service instantaneously, making it a much quicker way to set up new Direct Debits than by arranging for a mandate to be signed and placed in the post.

There are many benefits to using AUDDIS to set up new DDIs, including:

  • a sizeable reduction in manual processes
  • an improvement in carbon efficiency, due to reduced paper consumption
  • much improved business efficiency, saving time and improving cash flow
  • a smoother, hassle-free customer experience.

As of 1st January 2008, all DDIs sent by new service users submitting directly to Bacs must use AUDDIS.
