1. Bureau goes live with Albany

Cornwall-based payroll bureau, Bookwise, has ‘gone-live’ with Albany’s all-encompassing bureaux payments solution to assist in managing its 500 clients and processing 20,000 salary payments per month. Bringing central control and visibility of fund transfers direct to the desktop, Albany's solution enables bureaux to easily manage multiple customers and streamline multiple payment file submissions. 2. Inquiry into the abolition of cheques

The UK’s Treasury Committee intends to re-open their inquiry into the Payments Council's plan to abolish cheques by 2018 after declaring they were ‘unconvinced’ the use of cheques was in terminal decline. The announcement to abolish cheques caused concern amongst consumer groups, small businesses and charities who have spoken out against the plans and prompted the inquiry. In response, the Payments Council claim to welcome the opportunity to update their plans and consult with those who still rely on cheques. Read more »

 

3. RWA selects Albany's DD solution

4. HMRC goes ahead with RTI

HM Revenue and Customs announced that their plans to introduce Real Time Information will go ahead with a revised timeline. The revision has been welcomed by many payroll software providers and will see the pilot of the RTI system taking place in April 2012, with compulsory transition set for April 2013.
