The History of ALBACS
The successor to Albany’s previous range of payment tools, and released to market in 2004, ALBACS quickly became the premier Bacs payment solution for all sizes of organisation, and spearheaded Albany’s surge towards market-leadership.
During the initial developmental phases of the Bacstel-IP delivery channel, Bacs consulted Albany, in addition to a small number of other approved software suppliers, to obtain their views on how the system should work. ALBACS was the result of this relationship, and set the standard for software of its type. It soon became the company’s flagship product.
Several features of the software, which at the time were unique to the market, were made compulsory by Bacs, and are now required to be included by any Bacs approved software supplier.
Although it has technically been superseded by Albany ePAY, Albany’s next generation payments tool, the company has no plans to ‘end of life’ ALBACS for at least 2 years, instead encouraging customers who have a specific requirement for Albany ePAY’'s feature set to upgrade.
Offering full compatibility with the latest operating systems, Faster Payments functionality and a totally redesigned front end, Albany ePAY has taken over as the company’s premier payments product and ensures it can still cater to any customer requirement.
